The Social Democrats are pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Dillon as our Senior Political Director.
Paul will join the Social Democrats from the Financial Services Union, where he was Growth and Communications Manager. He has almost two decades experience in campaigns, communications, and policy. He is a graduate of UCD and DIT. A native of county Meath, he now lives in Dublin.
Paul Dillon said:
“Politics in Ireland is changing, and the Social Democrats have been to the forefront of that change. The old certainties have been challenged, and the traditional lines which defined Irish politics are being redrawn.
“I’m very pleased to be joining the Social Democrats team as Political Director. Together, our TDs, elected reps and party members are a force for positive change and I really look forward to being part of that”.
Welcoming the appointment, co-leaders Catherine Murphy TD and Róisín Shortall TD, said:
“We’re delighted that Paul is joining our staff team to lead on supporting our parliamentary party, and to support the work of our Councillors and members to drive our ambitious agenda.
“The Social Democrats have very high aspirations for a better, fairer Ireland. It’s clear that there is a growing appetite for a new type of politics, an honest politics that prioritises a fairer, greener and equitable society. Our TDs and Councillors will be at the forefront of delivering this change, with the support of our growing membership across the country.
“Paul will play a leading part in driving that change and we look forward to working with him to maximise the available opportunities, in and out of parliament, to prioritise quality public services for everyone, to reshape work/life balance and to recreate an economy which is greener and fairer, while restoring accountability, transparency and trust to public life.”
