Meet Catherine

Catherine Stocker is the Social Democrats councillor for Clontarf on Dublin City Council.

Catherine lives in Donnycarney with her husband and three young children.

Before becoming a Councillor, Catherine worked in the Trinity Access Programmes as a school and community outreach officer. She became involved with the Social Democrats in 2016 after having her first child because it was so clear to her that the supports and services we should have for all our citizens and residents were just not good enough – in terms of health, housing, childcare, education and so much more.

As an activist she has campaigned on public and affordable housing, climate justice, cost of living, non-religious schooling and healthcare, the Together for Yes campaign; and inclusion and solidarity for refugee and migrant groups.

Since being elected in 2019, she has worked on the council to deliver funding for new or revamped playgrounds and parks facilities, supported and pushed for more active travel initiatives including new cycle routes and safe routes to schools, been a voice on the housing policy Committee for secure affordable housing; and worked with local community gardens and biodiversity initiatives to secure council funding and support.

Better is possible, there is an alternative. We are the ones who can and must make a difference.
