The HSE must explain why there are no walk-in clinics for boosters for over 40s anywhere in Co. Dublin today, according to Social Democrats Health Spokesperson Róisín Shortall.
“There are no walk-in clinics for boosters for over 40s operating anywhere in Co. Dublin today. The HSE is offering walk-in clinics in 26 counties in total. Of these, just three – Dublin, Meath and Laois, do not have walk-in clinics for over 40s today.
“A clinic at Richmond Barracks in Inchicore had been listed on the HSE website yesterday, as operating from 8.30am today, but that is no longer listed. By contrast, a 12-hour walk-in clinic is operating in Cork today while in Limerick a 10-hour walk-in clinic is operating.
“Given Dublin is the country’s most populous county, with 1.4 million people, it seems utterly bizarre that there is no walk-in clinic anywhere today. This is especially the case given there are eight vaccination clinics operating in various parts of the county.
“The HSE has acknowledged that it must rapidly ramp up the booster campaign if we want to provide maximum protection against the current omicron surge. This pledge is incongruent with the dearth of walk-in clinics available in Dublin.
“The HSE has stated appointments are taking place in certain clinics in Dublin, but this does not explain the glaring absence of a single walk-in clinic. The HSE must now explain why there are no walk-in clinics in Dublin today.”
