Meet Tara

Tara Deacy is the Social Democrats councillor for Kimmage-Rathmines on Dublin City Council.

Tara has lived and worked in Dublin since 2005, initially as a Community Development Worker for Ballyfermot Partnership which supports the local community to tackle social exclusion and poverty caused by unemployment, and other social factors.

She currently works for the Clondalkin Drug and Alcohol Task Force, which aims to significantly reduce the harm caused to individuals and society by the misuse of drugs.

She is a huge supporter of Community Arts and has been involved with MaSamba, a community based Brazilian samba band for ten years.

Tara has a degree in Public and Social Policy from NUI Galway and a Master’s degree in Community Development.

Originally from County Mayo, Tara lives in Kimmage with her five-year-old son.

I am passionate about equality and sustainability. I have a keen interest in affordable quality childcare, accessible education and building strong communities using the principles of community development.
